The statuette

The winner of the Human Rights Defenders Tulip receives a bronze statuette created by artist duo Huub and Adelheid Kortekaas from Winssen.

Their thoughts behind the statuette in their own words:

“The award represents the evolution of a new image of humanity and the world, inspired by the rediscovery – recognition – of man as a spiritual being. A plant, in this case a tulip, symbolises the intrinsic longing within each of us to fulfil our own true nature. The Tulip statuette is 33 cm high, a number that refers to another project initiated by Huub Kortekaas, entitled ‘The Unifying Spiritual Field of the World’.”
